Many new casinos are launching in 2020 and gambling is on the up-tick. According to a report made by The Starts Group itself, the company is generating 27% more of income in Q1 of 2020.

In the report, The Stars Group claims they saw an increased customer activity across their online poker and casino products. In the second quarter, they got revenue that is at least 33% times higher as compared to the first quarter of 2020; on the same line, international revenues were 75% higher.

According to bonusetu.com, they have been getting more requests to add new casinos to their site. Sites like AskGamblers have an ever growing list of new casinos listed including new ones like Betiton Casino, WooCasino and FlipperFlip.

On a report available at euronews.com, you can find a declaration made by the British MP and chair of the gambling-related harm parliamentary committee that represents the actual situation regarding online gambling: “more people are turning to online gambling, some out of boredom, some because they have a problem with gambling and they feel they need to go back to it, They’ve been driven by advertising and the temptation is just too much”.

According to SBCEVENTS, the number of visits to online resources (in general) has increased by 50-70%, also, the income generated by companies that provide such services increased around 5 times. In the case of online gambling, the reported traffic increased by around 10-15% (March 2020).

The countries with the most favourable growth of gambling resources traffic are Italy, Spain, India, Philippines, Belarus, Georgia and the United States. Betblocker.org has seen an increase in more users downloading their app.

The only sector in online gaming that is hurting is sports but as of late May, more sports are starting back up again. Normally the summer is a slow month for betting on sport but this summer might be different as the NHL and NBA look to start their playoffs in June.

Normally these 2 leagues are wrapping up in the first week of June but this summer will be totally different. Otherwise online casinos are sprouting up quickly and many casino affiliate sites are constantly adding new casinos.

The sudden changes occurring in 2020

The year of 2020 has been full of many surprises and changes that have shifted the way that life is entirely. Certainly, the end of 2019 left the world scared and anxious about the possible situation that would be happening in the following year, and ended up taking place as imagined.

Many sectors and areas of the world have been shut down for an undetermined period of time, leaving workers and even executives jobless and concerned about what it is to come.

The beginning of 2020 has not been promising for many people across the world. For some of them, it has represented the worst time of their lives.

But, while some have been struggling, others have been striving, as it is the case of the gambling industry and the delivery industry.

The rise of the gambling industry

The gambling industry surely took a heavy blow when the news about the global quarantine was published.

Retail casinos, sportsbooks and racebooks had to make the harsh decision of closing down for a long period of time.

Some of them have made the choice of closing down permanently due to the high number of months without activities, while others have been looking for the methods and ways to stay afloat.

Many of those betting venues made the change to the online platforms after noticing how the internet would become even more relevant in such desperate times.

Truth is, they were definitely right. Betting venues were out of business, but online gambling platforms were a whole different story.

As it was mentioned previously, gambling sites have grown at least 5 times during 2020 with high possibilities of reaching even better figures.

The internet and the quarantine

The internet has been taking over the world for quite some time already. But, the horrible times of isolation have made it even more relevant and valuable for the people worldwide.

Nowadays, practically everything is done from smartphones, tablets, desktops and laptops that have access to the internet.

Thanks to it, people are able to buy products, food and pretty much anything else without having to move a muscle, preventing them from going out and take unnecessary risks.

When it comes to the online gambling industry, the players are able to place their bets and play their favorite games from their homes through any device connected to the internet.

In addition to that, they are able to withdraw their earnings easily and quickly without having to travel to a specific cashier or venue where they are supposed to receive their payouts.

The concern about the online gambling popularity

Online gambling has become popular and interesting for many people because of various reasons such as boredom and lack of funds.

Regardless of the specific reasons as to why the industry has grown so much lately, global organizations and many governments have expressed their concerns and worries regarding this matter.

They believe that such popularity could be turning into a dependency that they may regret deeply in the near future.

As a matter of fact, gambling addiction has grown scandalously during this year as well.

Despite the fact that casinos and any other betting venues are closed down, troubled gamblers have moved to the online platforms and new addicts have been developed.

Gambling addiction is set to grow at least 30% by the end of 2020, a shocking statistics that has made governments and authorities take some actions against it.

Measurements against the online gambling growth

Plenty of governments across the whole world have made the decision of prohibiting online betting sites within their borders, enforcing strong penalties like prison time.

According to several authorities, these measurements have been taken with the intention of eradicating the damaging condition that the gambling addiction is.
