Sports Betting And Online Gambling Now Legal in Michigan

This last Wednesday 30th Michigan Representatives approved a gambling expansion that would legalize sports betting, online gaming, online casinos, and others but Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is worried now because it is highly probable that the sports bets and the online casinos expansion can cut the earnings from the State Ilottery and this will cause fewer resources for the public schools that already need money. Nevertheless, The 10 bill package passed on 64-45 and 62-44 with both Republicans and Democrats supporting it. The State of Michigan is going to collect taxes from it, an 8-9% tax could be applied to sports wagers. Also, the bill calls for a tax on the online betting that is going to be 4% at the beginning and then increasing up to 23%. All these taxes could generate up to $25 million and perhaps more in revenues for the schools and other areas. So the concerns of the governor are not funded, but the supporters of this bill need to have the Gov. Gretchen approval.
